1950 FIFA World Cup

The fourth FIFA World Cup was held in Brazil at 1950 from 24 June to 16 July after 12 years due to World War II. It was also the first tournament that the trophy itself would be referred to as the Jules Rimet Cup, to mark the 25th anniversary of Rimet's presidency of FIFA. Uruguay became the second World Cup champions, beating the hosts Brazil in the final, 2–1. The final was played at the Estádio do Maracanã, Rio de Janeiro. 16 teams (Brazil, Yugoslavia, Switzerland, Mexico, Spain, England, Chile, United States, Sweden, Italy, Paraguay, India, Uruguay, Bolivia, Scotland and Turkey) are qualified for the tournament but 3 teams (India, Scotland and Turkey) withdrew.
